Growing Momentum Lands Sparks on Elevate PAC’s List of Top Female Republican Candidates to Watch in 2020
Irvine, CA – On Tuesday, Elevate PAC named Dr. Lisa Sparks to its “Women to Watch” list for the 2020 campaign cycle. The announcement comes after Dr. Sparks posted the strongest fundraising numbers amongst all Republican candidates in the 45th district; raising more than double her closest Republican opponent.
Elevate PAC, also known as E-PAC, was launched by Congresswoman Elise Stefanik to engage, empower, and elevate strong female Republican congressional candidates to increase the number of Republican women serving in Congress. Last cycle, Stefanik successfully recruited more than 100 women — a record number — to run for Congress as the Recruitment Chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
“As House Democrats like Katie Porter continue to align themselves with the socialist squad, I am proud to be included on a list with strong, Republican women fighting to restore order in Washington,” stated Dr. Lisa Sparks, who serves on the Orange County Board of Education. “Our campaign continues to see tremendous momentum both locally and nationally, and I am excited to be one of many women working to take back the House next November.”
E-PAC’s announcement comes on the heels of Dr. Sparks being named an “On the Radar” candidate by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). Combined with her status as the leading Republican fundraiser, Sparks has firmly established her position as a frontrunner to take on socialist Katie Porter.
Dr. Sparks currently serves as the Trustee of the Orange County Board of Education’s 5th district, which overlaps 35% of the 45th Congressional District. Sparks won her race overwhelmingly and was the top vote-getter earning 56.8% of the vote, with over 80,000 votes, in a field of five candidates.
California’s 45th Congressional District was formerly represented by U.S. Representative Mimi Walters and includes the cities and communities of Coto de Caza, Irvine, Tustin, Lake Forest, Laguna Woods, Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, Villa Park, and portions of Anaheim and Orange.
